October Flew By!

Wow, it's already November and we haven't posted anything here since September.  Lot of good stuff has happened since then, let me see if I can summarize:
  • The girls started their fall "school year" at preschool - new teachers, new friends, new activities and classrooms.  They're doing great and having fun.  Wherever we go around town there's a kid from preschool there.  Isla always has a crowd around and the older kids like to hang with her.  I'd hang with her too, she's funny.  A girl at the park today (who knew her from preschool during the summer, but was in the pre-K class) told her "Oh Isla, you're the tiniest!  You can fit in small places."  Isla looked at her, scowled and said "Don't call me tiny."  Deadpan.  Boy did that bring back memories!  Get used to it baby!
  • DJ got promoted.  He's now the Director of Client Services - he's loving it
  • We bought a house!  That's right, a 1960s-hasn't-been-updated-since-the-dawn-of-time tear down.  Great neighborhood, good bones, lots of work to do.  We close on the 15th and kick off a full remodel shortly after.  We must be insane.
  • I went to Boston for work.  That was fun...cool city, and barely made it out before Hurricane Sandy hit.
  • DJ's currently in San Diego for work.  He's traveling more now.
  • We celebrated our 8th anniversary.  WHAT?  I know, that's what we said.
  • We all went down to Manhattan Beach to visit my long-time friends Britney and Gino and their two kiddos.  We had a blast, they are seriously the best, and their new house is INSANE!!  Very proud of and happy for them.  Although we've always kept in touch, it's somewhat bizarre hanging out with people you were good friends with in high school and watching your kids play together.  Britney and I have identical senses of humor (and Gino's right in there too), so there were lots of laughs.
  • DJ and I went back down to Santa Monica to celebrate Nalatie's birthday - she and Jeff were in town from MN visiting her family.  We also saw some other friends from San Francisco.  Good times.
  • Addison had her first successful trip to the dentist.  So proud of her!
  • Halloween!  Addison was Princess Tiana (from Princess and the Frog) and Isla was a fairy. They lasted about 30 minutes walking around the neighborhood with Gramma Pam while Stacy and Grant handed out candy at our house.  Addison still hates chocolate and Isla could live on it.
  • Isla sprained her little toe.  Poor baby, it's all black and blue, but at least she can walk on it now
  • Addison is oddly talented at hitting and kicking balls and throwing a Frisbee and has been practicing any chance she can get.  I need to sign her up for tennis and soccer. We want to get her into karate too...help her focus a little, her mind is quick, but it's everywhere!
  • Planning for Stacy's baby shower on the 17th - can't wait, Fiesta!

Isla and her imagination - she loves these weird cats with the creepy big eyes!

A rare picture of us together!  Before a charity event

Addison discovered the show "Weeds" on Netflix. She loved it.  Don't worry, I made her turn it off after a bit

Beach days have not ended!  Still warm and beautiful
